Sporting partnerships and support locally
Basingstoke Voluntary Sports Council have been in existance for over 30 years interacting with or supporting the vibrant sporting community of our borough. The core committee has representatives from various sports and links with the Borough Council, Energise Me, School Sports Co-ordinator, local facility and other sporting representatives. Our Objectives and Priorities are identified on our website and all targetted at assisting the Sporting Community of Basingstoke & Deane. Please let us know what initiatives your organisation are working on and anything you need promoting locally.

Basingstoke & Deane Get Active
Linked to the previous activities and objectives of the Sports and Physical Activity Alliance set two years ago, Basingstoke Voluntary Sports Council are interacting with the local community to 'Get more people active' during 2021/22. This will include all ages, from youngsters through to those retired and it is hoped that local leagues, clubs and schools will participate in some way. Activities can include open 'taster sessions' at clubs, club to school trial sessions, Volunteer, Officials and Coach recruitment, Community Centre, Community School and Village Hall promotion of healthy activities etc. Unfortunately, Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council rejected our recent bid for funding support for this project and only 8.6% of B&D councillors appeared interested in this community initiative.
We need interaction and support from the local Sport and Health Community so please consider this within your organisation and get in touch with ideas. Events could be linked with club reopening taster sessions, School Half term activities, the Olympics or Euro Football Championships etc this summer. Please add the Get Active logo to your website and link to the supporting text for clarification.
